You’ve winnowed down your final candidates and have chosen the perfect person to fill that open position. After several rounds of interviews and reference checks, you made your choice and now must seal the deal before another company swoops in and snatches them up.
A great hiring letter reassures the new hire that you’re serious. It also outlines the specifics of the job. Once your newest hire has signed the dotted line, you can be sure that they understand and accept the terms of the position. If the candidate decides they’d like to negotiate terms, the letter will serve as a reference point. Once signed, the letter serves as a way for both parties to manage expectations. See our hiring letter template for reference.
Not only do hiring letters help you cross your P’s and Q’s, but the letter is also the first step in starting this new relationship off on a positive note. A good contract letter should make the new employee feel welcome and excited about their decision to join your company
If employment is at will, be sure to state this, and consider enclosing helpful documents, like a job description, employee handbook or other materials as needed.
