Best Content Marketing Manager Job Description Template

People may look at several different websites featuring hundreds of jobs in the course of a day’s job hunting, so if you want yours to stand out in a sea of similar adverts, then you need to craft it carefully. On average, only a quarter of those who read a short snapshot of a job advert actually click through to see the details of the role on offer, so it’s important to make every word of your advert count.

Some recruiters may remember a time when the onus was very much on the candidates to sell themselves to potential employers, but with nearly a half of businesses reporting that they are struggling to recruit qualified candidates, there is increased pressure on businesses to actively attract applications. The content marketing manager job description template will help you to write a job advert that encourages high-quality candidates to apply.

What to Include in a Winning Content Marketing Manager Job Description Template

When you are writing your job advert, you will need to consider how you can convey the benefits of the role as clearly as possible. One of the easiest ways to do this is to separate your job advert into four different sections, as shown in the content marketing manager job description template.

Job Summary: This section gives the first impression job seekers will have of the role, so to ensure it’s a positive one you will need to focus on the language you use. Be as specific as you can with the job title so that candidates can gauge their interest from the first thing they read, and give details of why they should want to come and work for your company.

Duties and Responsibilities: This section should be clear, concise and focus on the most important elements of the role rather than listing everything that falls under the content marketing manager’s remit. Identify the reporting structure and how the role fits into the wider organisation to provide a bigger picture of the remit of the position.

Skills: If you have a team whose responsibility it is to review job descriptions, then they may wish to be involved in drawing up the list of skills for this section to ensure that the distinction between ‘must have’ and ‘nice to have’ skills is clear. It is also a good idea to arrange both lists in order of priority as in the content marketing manager job description template above.

Company Overview: This is your chance to highlight the reasons that someone should want to work for you, so think about what shows your business in the best light. List any perks or benefits on offer, mention the company ethos and draw attention to any awards or industry accolades that you have won.

  • Do mention the salary on offer and include details of any bonuses that employees can earn as these are important factors in whether candidates apply or not.
  • Don’t use too much technical jargon and avoid long paragraphs – see how the content marketing manager job description template uses concise bulleted lists.
  • Do consider how easy it will be to read your advert on a mobile device as many candidates search for jobs on the move.
  • Don’t make the application process overly complicated as long forms put many job seekers off.
