Diversity

Diversity is a broad term that refers to differences and similarities in a collective mixture. Diversity can include differences and similarities in values, beliefs, backgrounds, experiences, behaviors, preferences and characteristics, and can be either individual or organizational.

Companies and businesses are encouraged to promote diversity in the workplace, as it helps promote equality and equal access to employment. An example of a diverse company would be one that employed individuals from various races, ages, religions and economic backgrounds. While diversity in and of itself does not necessarily connote equality in the workplace, it is seen as a positive step in that direction.
