Soft skills are specific skills needed for jobs in which the position is defined according to certain results, but the overall process required to achieve those results is varied. Examples of some of the more common and in-demand soft skills include communication, teamwork/collaboration, critical observation, problem solving and adaptability. Such skills should not only be learned, but cultivated as well. Doing so can prove beneficial when it comes to getting a job and earning a promotion. Ways to learn and develop soft skills include taking courses, finding industry mentors and working with nonprofit organizations, all of which can also look good on a resume.
