Stakeholder

A stakeholder is any person with a vested interest in the successful outcome or completion of a particular project. Stakeholders and stakeholder groups come in a variety of forms and may or may not be actively involved in the project at stake. Within the context of labor and employment, certain offered benefits may make a new employee a stakeholder in the company. Alternately, an employee may feel an impact from stakeholders outside the organization in the form of policy decisions and job security. Even when stocks are not involved, a stakeholder may at times be referred to as a shareholder.
