Unretirement is the practice of hiring employees who were previously retired. The vast majority of these employees will be past the retirement age and may be seeking employment for various reasons. Some formerly retired workers may simply be looking for a new career, while others seek employment due to financial hardship. Regardless of the reason, the skills and qualifications of these formerly retired employees are oftentimes sought out by particular companies and industries. Refusing to hire a worker due to his or her age is considered to be an unlawful employment practice. Any employer who engages in age discrimination will be subject to legal action.
