A pay range is defined as a set boundary for compensation which identifies the minimum and maximum amount of a specific pay grade. Pay range classifications are typically assigned by the Director of the Office of State Employment Relations, but some classifications are influenced by collective bargaining as well. A PSICM amount may also be established for employees who are not required to complete a six month probationary period. Pay ranges vary according to federal and state laws, but policies can be implemented by private sector organizations or for public employees.
